Risk Tech Lead
Multi-strategy / Multi-manager hedge fund with >$3BB in AUM and a core focus on long / short equity strategies is seeking to hire a Risk Technology Lead to own the engineering and calculation workflows that power the firm’s Risk Management function. This is a hands-on leadership role that reports to the Chief Technology Officer and involves delivering fast, accurate, and scalable risk analytics in direct partnership with the CRO and collaboration with the centralized data team. This person will modernize legacy tools, build new risk capabilities, and help define the next-generation, cloud-native risk platform. The ideal candidate has worked in a multi-manager equity long / short hedge fund and combines strong software engineering capabilities with leadership potential, capital markets experience, and a vision for risk architecture in a multi-asset environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Own development, maintenance and operations of all technology supporting the Risk Mgmt. function
- Provide ad hoc support for daily production processes to ensure required reports and calculations are delivered by established daily deadlines
- Write & maintain prod-quality code for risk calculations & services in Python and R
- Deliver accurate, timely, and scalable risk calculations across exposure, limits, and portfolio analytics
- Translate CRO requirements and proto-type work flows into clear technical roadmaps and iterative delivery plans
- Evolve existing risk workflows to leverage modern infrastructure, reusable services, and cloud-native deployment patterns
- Improve reliability through testing, monitoring, automation, and operational controls
- Partner with Data team to ensure risk tech has clean, reliable, and well-structured inputs
- Hands-on technical leadership and mentor dev resources supporting risk initiatives
- Communicate progress, risks, and delivery timelines clearly to leadership
- Ensure production stability and rapid incident response for all risk calculations and reporting workflows
Key Objectives for the First 3-6 months
- Take full ownership of the risk technology ecosystem and establish clear accountability
- Assess existing risk workflows, infrastructure, and processes to identify gaps and constraints
- Define a prioritized development roadmap aligned with business needs and anticipated growth
- Convert high-priority prototypes and R-based analytics into production-grade implementations and begin delivery
Key Objectives for the 6-18 Months
- Improve reliability, consistency, and accuracy of risk outputs
- Define a modernization plan for risk applications and data processing pipelines
- Strengthen automation, monitoring, and deployment practices to reduce operational risk
- Deliver new analytics and reporting capabilities needed by the Risk organization
- Establish repeatable engineering practices and a clear delivery model for enhancements
Qualifications
- 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience in financial or risk technology
- Hands-on experience with statistical risk models supporting multi-PM equity long/short portfolios and PM-level exposure and limits
- Expertise in writing production systems in Python and R for analytics and calculations
- Experience preparing, validating, and transforming datasets for risk calculations
- Working familiarity with TypeScript-based services or frontends
- Ability to read, debug, and maintain legacy Java and actively developed R codebases
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), containers, and CI/CD practices
- Strong understanding of financial market data, statistical analysis, pricing inputs, and reference datasets

Additionally, he is co-leading recruitment and business development efforts for crypto initiatives.
Prior to joining Banyak Group, Oban was a licensed Private Investigator in the State of Florida with one of the world’s largest full-service investigation firms, CoventBridge Group. He has also held positions in sales, web design, and customer service, and spent most of his early career as an entrepreneur in Ecommerce.
Oban holds a Masters in Public Administration, a Masters in Criminal Justice, and a Bachelors in Criminal Justice, all from the University of Central Florida. He prides himself on being a versatile talent and a curious mind. Oban currently resides in Orlando, FL, with dreams of owning a farm.

An expert in his field, Alex also serves as an advisor, coach, and mentor to those launching and scaling investment firms as well as those navigating their professional careers.
Prior to founding Banyak Group, Alex was a Senior Search Consultant and Head of the Quantitative Strategies and Risk Management Practice as well as the Director of Research with retained search firm, Bay Street Advisors. He began his career in executive search and recruitment with Strategic Workforce Solutions as a specialist to the investment management and investment banking industries.
Alex is a proud Michigan State University Eli Broad College of Business alumni, has an adventurous spirit, and is an avid world traveler. He is bi-coastal and resides in Laguna Beach, California with his family.

Executive Assistant and Recruitment Coordinator
Lindsay is an Executive Assistant and Recruitment Coordinator, joining Banyak Group in 2022. As Recruitment Coordinator, she supports research and sourcing efforts and serves as the key point of contact across Banyak Group’s book of business. As Executive Assistant to the Managing Principal, Lindsay identifies, implements, manages, and enhances the firm’s operational processes and systems.
Prior to joining Banyak Group, Lindsay was an admin for a private medical practice and a researcher performing pre-employment background checks. With administrative experience exclusively supporting small businesses, she possesses a deep understanding in establishing trust and applying exceptional standards of service.
Lindsay discovered her aptitude for office management while completing her dual Bachelor degrees in International Security & Diplomacy and History at the University of North Texas. She is an outdoors enthusiast and avid astrophile. She is a South Florida native currently residing in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
